The internet went crazy after Jared Kushner made a rare speaking appearance at the White House  on Monday . Some of the world's biggest tech gurus were at the White House to brainstorm plans to modernise the government technology infrastructure and Kushner gave the welcome speech. It's his first speech ever since he became a Senior Adviser to President Trump. While speaking, he said the plans to update the government bureaucracy's technology was "very exciting" but when he was done talking, most of social media was more concerned about his voice than about the content of his speech. A number of people thought his voice was not fit for someone of his age and status.  "Kind of disappointed. The oldest tree in the world was alive when Stonehenge was under construction and around the time humans developed their first writing system       Hidden in the mountains of California, Nevada, and Utah, lurk some of the oldest known long-living species of the Great Basin bristlecone pine, or  Pinus longaeva . One member of this species, noted to be 5066 years old, is considered the oldest known living organism on Earth. The ancient tree can be found in the White Mountains in California, but its exact location is kept secret. The tree was cored by specialist Edmund Shulman, dedicated researcher and explorer of long-lived trees, and its age was determined by Tom Harlan. The age of the tree means that it was alive while Stonehenge was under construction and around the time when the first writing system was invented in Sumeria. Photos: Female student electrocuted by high tension wire at Rivers State University

A yet to be identified student of the Rivers State University was electrocuted on Tuesday, June 13, by a high tension cable. She was found lying near the school main gate shuttle park and and rushed to the Health Care Centre where she was confirmed dead. According to an eyewitness, the young lady was trying to cross over an erosion following a heavy rain that began in the early hours of that fateful day. "The erosion  she was trying to to get across had a high tension wire in it as a result of a pole that fell on Monday, June 12th. The deceased had no idea that there was wire in the water." It was gathered that the school authorities reportedly contacted officials of the PHED to inform them of the fallen cable.

Death toll in London fire hits 17 and still expected to increase

24-hours after the devastating fire in London's North Kensington, the death toll has risen from the initial 6 to 17 people and firefighters are still working to dampen the blaze and search for bodies.  London's fire commissioner Dany Cotton this morning revealed that there is "genuinely" no idea when it comes to the estimating the total number of missing people.  She also admitted that it we be an "absolute miracle" if there was still anyone alive in the tower and that it would take "weeks" to complete a proper search with the building still unstable. At the moment, the final death toll is still unknown and there's no fixed number on missing persons.

Ex-naval officer, Chief Moses Akanni Famuyiwa brutally murdered in Ogun State

Retired naval officer, Chief Moses Akanni Famuyiwa, popularly called MAF 44, was brutally murdered by unknown assailants in Ogun State in the early hours of yesterday, Wednesday, June 14. The 73-year-old Chief Executive Officer of MAF 44 Gardens and Event centre, Arigbajo, Ogun State was stabbed on the vein in his left elbow, by the assailants before fleeing the scene. It was gathered that the room where he was murdered was like a slaughter slab, as the bed-sheets, pillows, rug and the tiles were stained with blood, an indication that he battled with the attackers. There were, however, two sides to the story. While some claimed it was a robbery incident that went haywire, others said it was a case of assassination, as the assailants came with the mindset of killing him, The Guardian reports.  The wife, Mrs Opeyemi Akintanmide Famuyiwa, who was with him when the incident happened, narrated to The Guardian that the murderers, numbering three invaded the house around  5:0...

Nigerians react after CCT clears Saraki of false asset declaration charges

This morning, the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) dismissed the charges of false asset declaration against Senate President, Bukola Saraki. Chairman of the tribunal, Danladi Umar, in his ruling said the prosecution team had failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove that Saraki was indeed guilty of false asset declaration. With this, Nigerians took to social media to share their views on the ruling. As expected many believe the fight against corruption is a futile effort. See their comments below.
