A 15-year-old student opened fire at a high school in Kentucky leading to the death of two 15-year-old, with 19 others injured and hundreds fleeing for safety. The incident began at 7:57 am on Tuesday, Jan 23 when a 15-year-old student armed with a handgun entered the high school and started shooting. The shooter entered a common area at Marshall County High School in Benton, pulled out a pistol and began firing at students. Student Bryson Conkwright who witnessed the horror said: "I see this guy draw from his side and he pulls out a pistol. I didn’t even know what was going on. And then it registered. Ivorian football legend, Didier Drogba gave back to his country a few days ago by opening a school that will help no fewer than 350 children in the rural cocoa growing community of Pokou-Kouamekro to gain quality education.  Speaking at the launch, Drogba said the foundation began working on the project two years ago.  I am very proud to see it completed . On Friday night, fire gutted three duplexes on 34 Road, B Close of Gowon Estate, Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Egbeda, Lagos but luckily there was no casualty recorded in the inferno.   An eyewitness said that the fire was first noticed at about 7.15pm in one of the duplexes before spreading to others. He said that an occupant in one of duplexes, who had just returned, opened the door and met the raging fire, immediately raised an alarm which attracted neighbours and sympathisers.   According to the witness, the occupant’s action quickly attracted more sympathisers’ who ran helter-skelter in assisting to put-off the fire, but their efforts were not enough.  But the arrival and efforts of a combined team of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and State Fire Service officials to the scene helped to quench the fire.  Some of the residents commended the early arrival of the LASEMA personnel, saying that they got to the scene 30 minute...

Pope Francis   has made history by performing a wedding ceremony for two flight attendants on board a plane travelling between cities in Chile.   Paula Podest Ruiz, 39, and Carlos Ciuffardi Elorriga, 41, had been married earlier in a civil service but asked the Pope to bless their marriage.  "Do you want me to marry you?" he said.   The couple said they were unable to conduct a ceremony in their church in the Chilean capital, Santiago, after it was damaged in an earthquake in 2010 so Pope Francis suggested performing the brief ceremony on his short flight from Santiago to the city of Iquique in northern Chile. He then carried out a Catholic wedding service for the couple, lining up the airline's boss as a witness.  A travelling cardinal provided a hand-written religious marriage document on a single sheet of paper, which was signed by the bride, groom, and witness.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced more friendly games for the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. In addition to the already scheduled friendly games against Poland in Warsaw on Friday, March 23 and England in London on Saturday, June 2, the Super Eagles will also face Serbia in London on Tuesday, March 27, DR Congo in Abuja or Uyo on Monday, May 28 and Czech Republic on Wednesday, June 6. The new friendly games were announced at a press conference held by the NFF at the Eko Hotels and Suites on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 According to NFF, the friendly games are to fully prepare the Super Eagles ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.  Nigeria is drawn in Group D alongside Argentina, Croatia, and Iceland.
