Billionaire Bill Gates, Nigeria's Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Emir of Kano and a host of others attended the wedding reception of Dangote's daughter in Lagos on Friday. Reacting to a photo of all of them peacefully sitting together irrespective of different schools of thoughts or religion, Wedding Party 2 director, Niyi Akinmolayan wrote: "A Pastor, a Muslim leader and an atheist. Even if Bill Gates was gay, he’ll still sit there comfortably with smiles around him. Wealth and power knows no religion. May we never have reasons to fight for God so that some people can be rich."

Germany’s Parliament elected Angela Merkel for her fourth term as chancellor on Wednesday, putting an end to nearly six months of political drift in Europe’s biggest economy.  Lawmakers voted 364-315 to reelect Merkel, Germany’s leader since 2005, who ran unopposed. The coalition of Merkel’s conservative Christian Democratic Union, its Bavaria-only sister party the Christian Social Union, and the center-left Social Democrats has 399 of the 709 seats in parliament. Merkel will head a much-changed Cabinet, with the governing parties — which are traditional rivals keen to send signals of renewal after a September election in which all lost significant ground. A Nigerian policeman has died shortly after being punched by a soldier at a burial ceremony in Sapele, Delta state. The police officer identified as Mr. Imomoh was reportedly at the burial when a group of soldiers began shooting in the air repeatedly. Imomoh, who was not dressed in his uniform, reportedly walked up to one of the soldiers and asked him to stop shooting as he could accidentally hit someone.  The soldier, unaware that Imomoh was also an officer, got angry at the confrontation and punched him in the chest. A fight almost broke out but Imomoh was held back by onlookers. However, just as he was leaving the scene, he slumped and died. Upon seeing him on the floor, the soldiers reportedly fled the scene. An investigation into the matter has been launched in order to apprehend the soldiers responsible for Imomoh's death
