Nigeria overtakes India in poverty

A new report released by the World Poverty Clock, has listed Nigeria as the country in the world with the highest number of extremely poor people, officially displacing India which hitherto was the country with the highest number of poor people. The report states that extreme poverty in Nigeria is growing by six people every minute, the highest number in the world. The report pointed out that at the end of May (2018), Nigeria had an estimated 87 million people in extreme poverty, compared to India’s 73 million. The report further stated that in Africa, D.R Congo may soon overtake India as number two, while Africa may be home to additional 3.2 million people living in extreme poverty by the end of 2018. The World Poverty Clock report further states that of the 10 countries on this extreme poverty list, only Ethiopia is on track to meet the United Nations’ SDG of ending extreme poverty by 2030. Dbanj looses son

The most painful thing to happen to any parent has happened to Nigerian musician, Dbanj. The music star who arrived Los Angeles two days ago to attend the 2018 BET Awards is reported to have lost his only son, Daniel D'Third who celebrated his 1st birthday just one month ago. Dbanj's son, who he welcomed with his wife,   Lineo Didi Kilgrow, last year May,  drowned at the family residence in Ikoyi today June 24th. D'banj wasn't at home at the time. The little boy's body has reportedly since been moved to a morgue in GRA. There's no official statement from Dbanj to confirm the news but he shared an 'All black' image on his instagram page minutes ago with the caption,   'trying Times. But my God is Always and Forever Faithful'.

Breaking: Popular CNN anchor, Anthony Bourdain commits suicide at the age of 61

Anthony Bourdain, a gifted storyteller and popular writer who took CNN viewers around the world, has died at the age of 61.   CNN confirmed Bourdain's death today and said the cause of death was suicide. "It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain. His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time." 28-year old Army officer who was dismissed for impersonation has now been arrested for robbery

Emmanuel Anthony, who was recently dismissed by the army authorities at the 81 Division for impersonation, is in another trouble.   The 28-year-old after his dismissal was arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court in April 2018 for posing as an army lieutenant to commit crime. According to a report by Punch, his photograph was reportedly spotted in the media by a man who identified him as a member of the gang that robbed him of a Lexus SUV on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway sometime in February 2018.   The victim was said to have reported to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Ibrahim, at the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos, who recalled the Akwa Ibom State indigene from court. The Zone 2 Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Dolapo Badmos, during a parade of the suspect on Thursday at the command headquarters at Onikan, said Anthony confessed to the crime.   She explained that the suspect would also be charged with robbery. ...

Heartbreaking photos of a mother and her daughter killed during a military raid in Bayelsa

A nursing mother and her  two months old baby were killed allegedly during a military raid in Ben ama and Tengele ama communities, Oluasiri clan in Nembe local government area of Bayelsa state yesterday June 7th. The Military joint taskforce were said to have stormd the village to arrest some militants. During a crossfire, a stary bullet was said to have hit the two months old girl and passed into her mother. They died instantly. See their remains below 

Man caught with 27 bags of human faeces in Lagos (photos)

Operatives of Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC apprehended a man with 27 bags of human faeces. Idris Yusuf, a 29-year-old handcart pusher, was arrested for unsanitary and illegal disposal of human faeces under the bridge at Daleko, Mushin. According to LAGESC, Yusuf was caught with human faeces tied in 27 bags. The house where the waste originated from has since been sealed off.

Woman apprehended while smuggling Indian hemp into Kuje prisons

Officers of Kuje prison in Abuja  have arrested Miss Ijeoma Franca pictured above after she was apprehended while trying to smuggle Indian hemp into the Medium Security Prisons, Kuje, Abuja. In a statement released to newsmen, the spokesperson of the FCT Prison Command, Humphrey Chukwuedo, said the banned substanced was concealed in a carton of biscuit and was discovered while she was being searched by the prison officials. When interrogated, Franca said a man named Daniel asked her to deliver the substance to his brother, Daniel Amechi, who is an inmate in the prison. “During the interrogation, she claimed that one Mr Daniel had engaged her to take some package to his brother, Mr Miracle Amechi, who is an inmate in Kuje prisons and the package includes a carton of spicy biscuit, rolls of milk and milo, shirts and N2,500 and that she was ignorant of the real content of the carton of spicy biscuit,” the statement read Franca has since been handed over t...
